Well-known jailbreak developer John Coates (@punksomething) has created an app that lets you add the new Apple TV’s awesome-looking animated aerial screen savers to your Mac.As we saw during the Apple TV reveal, the crew behind the screen savers were meticulous in their attention to detail.
When Apple introduced Apple TV 4, they also introduced beautifully filmed Aerial screensavers.
A setting in ATV allows it to check regularly for new ones and download them automatically. Only a few of them are downloaded at any given time, so check your settings for how frequently you want ATV to refresh your local copies.
In December 2016 Apple greatly expanded the list of Aerial screensavers. The table below has been updated to include all locations. When Day and Night views are available, Apple TV will cycle thru the appropriate ones based on your local time.
Notes:
Apple TV Aerial Views. This screensaver brings all of the screensavers included in the Apple TV media device, featuring aerial views of New York, San Francisco, China, Hawaii and other places (by day and/or night), to your Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows computer. Here’s where Aerial for Mac is arguably even better than the version included on the Apple TV. The Mac screen saver’s options allow you to specify exactly which flyover videos you’d like to. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, then click Desktop & Screen Saver. Click the Screen Saver tab. Screen savers appear on left side of the window, and a preview of the selected screen saver appears on the right.
